"Dave is an exceptional coach. He doesn't just bark orders – he's extremely interactive and joins each exercise. You want to run faster and try that extra sit up or chin up (that is if you can even do ONE!) because he's so encouraging."
– Carole Sinclair

(Luca Zanet) "Definitely my favorite coach, most knowledge, best pushing, brought out the best athlete in me."
– Amy Chionis

(Luca Zanet) "you are a phenomenal trainer and extremely effective at getting the most out of your clients. Professional and knowledgeable and inventive. THE BEST."

Dave D'Angelo

Dave D'Angelo
Co-Owner, CrossFit Certified Level 1, CrossFit Kettlebell Certified and CrossFit Mobility Certified

Dave D'Angelo found the Crossfit site on the web one day and immediately decided it was something he wanted to try out. He got a few friends together and put together his first workout. It was a big hit.

The workout groups kept growing, people were having fun and seeing results. What began in his backyard and garage rapidly expanded.

In March 2008 Dave became a Crossfit Level One Instructor/Trainer and in Oct. 2009 received certification for kettlebell training.

It was always his dream to open a gym of his own, and in the fall of 2009 Lamorinda CrossFit opened in Lafayette, CA.

Anni Watson

Anni Watson
Co-Owner, Administration & Membership, CrossFit Certified Level 1, and USAW Sports Performance Coach; certified Olympic Lifts trainer

Anni was first introduced to CrossFit by Dave D'Angelo in 2009. She had been working out regularly but was bored with all the workout programs she tried and knew she didn't want to be a slave to the treadmill.

After her first workout with CrossFit, she knew it was for her! The intensity drew her in and made her excited! The design of the workouts fit her busy schedule, and the community and working out as a group kept her coming back.

Anni was finishing up her last semester of school and wanted to open her own business. With the money left to her by her brother, Gabe, a soldier who was killed in Afghanistan in 2008, she felt as thought CrossFit would be a perfect business. She has always wanted to be fit, and she also wanted to do something that would honor her brother. Gabe loved body building, fitness, martial arts, being strong and keeping his body healthy. He would have loved CrossFit!

She knew that Dave dreamt of opening a CrossFit Gym and when she presented the idea of partnering with him they both knew it was a good fit. Dave was so excited! They opened the gym in Lafayette in November 2009.

Luca Zanet

Luca Zanet
Co-Owner, CrossFit Certified Level 1 & 2 Trainer, USAW Certified Sports Performance Coach, Certified Olympic Lifts Trainer

Luca started his fitness training in Italy with competitive swimming in his teen age years but got tired of it and switched to rugby at 17. He played in the under 18 league, then in the first division for a total of three seasons. But as he got into the world of work, he had to let rugby go.

Luca started regular weight training and cardio just to stay in shape. He moved to San Francisco and at age 27 and started training in Muay-Thai under Daniel Docto at Concord Kickboxing Club (C.K.C.) in Concord, CA. He competed in some "smoker" fights, trained fighters and taught kids classes for about three years.

When C.K.C. closed in 2004, after 11 years, Luca went to train in San Francisco at the Fairtex gym and sometime later at Gracie in Pleasant Hill. Thanks to his trainer, Luca was introduced to CrossFit in 2006 as a trainer conditioning routine and got hooked right away. He became certified as a Level I & II CrossFit instructor. The rest is history...

Dan Rivera

Dan Rivera
CrossFit Certified Level 1

Dan has been a fitness junkie his whole life. He grew up playing baseball (his first love), soccer and basketball in his native New York and still continues to play with the SF National Adult Baseball Association.

When Dan moved to California in October 2005, he joined a global gym and worked out regularly. However, he wasn't seeing the results he wanted. One day a friend told him about CrossFit. After watching a video (close to 50 times) of Jason "Rhabdo" Kaplan doing Fran, Dan was instantly intrigued.

He began following the main site, implementing CrossFit WODs into his global gym workouts. He got his Level 1 Certification at CrossFit San Diego in May 2009 and searched everywhere for the perfect affiliate where he could continue to get fit while sharing CrossFit with others.

In January 2010 he found us at Lamorinda CrossFit. From the moment he walked into the Cave, it felt like home (it didn't hurt that co-owner Dave was also a native New Yorker!).

CrossFit has changed Dan's life in many ways. He is stronger, faster, and even hitting better ...

Dan is excited to be a part of the Lamorinda team. You can find him here most days discussing the benefits of the paleo diet or his love of the Yankees.

Katie Terhar
CrossFit Endurance Certified

Katie first started CrossFit, at Lamorinda CrossFit, in December of 2009. She was mostly running but also doing spin classes and strength training at other local gyms. CrossFit interested her initially, when her race times slowed and she began to lack the motivation to run 4-5 times a week. CrossFit dramatically changed the way she trained and in just a few months, her half marathon time became faster and the chronic aches and pains she experienced from running constantly, decreased significantly.

Interested in learning more about how to incorporate her love of endurance sports into CrossFit, Katie became CrossFit Endurance certified in March of 2011. Currently, she teaches 2-3 endurance classes at Lamorinda CrossFit and combines her love of teaching (she's a high school teacher of 15 years) with her dedication to health and fitness. Now, Katie enjoys participating in CrossFit competitions as well as races.
